Sizl Gallery in Carrboro, NC, Features Works by Delfina Nahrgang

Sizl Gallery in Carrboro, NC, will present the exhibit, Uccelli, featuring a watercolor series from Italy with birds as a point of departure by Delfina Nahrgang, on view from Apr. 7 through May 7, 2006.

Nahrgang explains, "These bird watercolors, done for the most part in an Italian town called Pietrasanta in the last two years, have as their inspiration and subject matter, our bird fellow-travelers, our ever-present companions in space and time and who are for me even, a metaphor for the air we breathe. The format is a circle which for me represents the sphere of the sky, the form of the planet and of infinite space. Though the subject is birds, they also serve as a point of departure for explorations in painting where color, shape, line, contrast, rhythm and so on... inform the subject matter, and reveal the birds in a hide and seek, metaphorical sense."

Born in Seattle, WA, Nahrgang has exhibited in Italy, across the United States and in New York, where she resides with her sculptor husband, Nathaniel Kaz.
