Cameo Art Gallery in West Columbia, SC, Features Works by Van Martin

Cameo Art Gallery in West Columbia, SC, will present an exhibit entitled, Mélange, featuring works by Van Martin, from Apr. 28 through May 19, 2007, in association with the Columbia Festival of Arts.

Martin, a native South Carolinian born into an artistic family, had at an early age the opportunity to discover painting and drawing as a means for boundless imagination. When Martin first began his career as an artist, he jumped head first into many aspects of the art world. He has a very diverse interest in subject matter, mediums and techniques.

Martin has spent numerous years studying different styles and mediums given to us by the Masters. He enjoys challenging himself by recreating many of the same pieces produced by the art masters in the past. Although he has been painting for many years, Martin still pursues the challenge to learn more and do more in the art scene.

Martin brings an artistic life to his works, whether he is painting a portrait, landscape or abstract. He is able to capture the light, shading and movement with amazing color and style, as you can see in his South Carolina rural scenes. His abstracts are strong in originality, as well as bold composition.
