WICKWIRE Gallery in Hendersonville, NC, Offers Works by Beth Cavanaugh

WICKWIRE fine art/folk art features the exhibit, BETH CAVANAUGH - Watercolor Paintings, on view through Apr. 30, 2007, at their 329 N. Main Street location in historic downtown Hendersonville, NC.

Cavanaugh paints her expressive, delicate birds in their natural setting in vibrant watercolor. She is a native of South Carolina.

"If asked which speaks to my heart the most - the majestic mountains of Western North Carolina that I know and love or the delicate beauty of birds, it would be difficult to choose. For both I have a tremendous passion," says Cavanaugh. "To appreciate birds you have to go where they live so, I explore the outdoors. When painting, I frequently use my imagination to create backgrounds that possess a dreamy, ethereal quality, yet always maintain the realistic images of the birds. Most of the birds I paint can be seen in North Carolina as well as throughout the southeastern region."

Cavanaugh's interest in drawing and painting began as a child. One of her favorite places to spend time was the art museum. She attended the Columbia Museum of Art School studying under Catherine Rembert. Rembert taught numerous successful artists at USC including Jasper Johns, J. Bardin and Jack Smyrl. Cavanaugh has studied under and taken workshops from local, regional and nationally known artists, which also encouraged her interest in art. Her favorite medium is watercolor.

Cavanaugh is currently a member of the National Watercolor Society, the South Carolina Watermedia Society, the Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville and the Crooked Creek Art League in Chapin, SC. Some of her paintings are included in private collections in Arkansas, California, Florida, Kansas and both the Carolinas.

Also, at WICKWIRE on Apr. 14, 2007, from 1-5pm, see a painting demonstration by Colleen Webster, painting from life outdoors in oil - alla prima (one sitting) which provides a freshness and immediacy to her work. The event takes place at WICKWIRE's 329 North Main Street location.
