Artista Vista Returns for 17th Spring Showcase in Columbia, SC

The Vista's signature gallery crawl, Artista Vista, is the largest visual arts event in the Midlands, connecting visitors with artists from approximately 10 hallmark galleries. The two-day event, which is free and open to the public, lets visitors mingle among works from around the state and the world with complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres.

The event takes place on Apr. 24, 2008, from 5-9pm and Apr. 26, 2008, from 11am-3pm, in the Congaree Vista, in and around the Gervais street corridor in Columbia, SC.

Gallery participants and artists are still being finalized, but the following are perennial favorites: City Art Gallery, The Gallery at DuPRE, I. Pinckney Simons Gallery, if Art, McCrory Galleri, Nonnah's, South Carolina State Museum, One Eared Cow Glass, Vista Studios/Gallery 80808, and Watermark Hypnosis and Serenity Gallery.

Select artists will be available during the event to answer questions and comment on their work. Others, like One Eared Cow Glass, on Huger Street, will provide live demonstrations.

Arranged as an informal gallery walk, Artista Vista is entirely organized and run by the local galleries and sponsored by the Congaree Vista Guild.

The South Carolina State Museum will hold its annual Congaree Art Festival in conjunction with Artista Vista activities on Apr. 26, 2008, from 10am-4pm. The festival is a show and sale of work by some of South Carolina's best studio artists - on the museum grounds.
