Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Offers 5th Annual Plein Air Exhibit

Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, is presenting the Fifth Annual PAINT OUT Exhibition, featuring works by four of the country's leading artists, on view through Apr. 25, 2008. The group of artists will include Daud Akhriev, Marc Hanson, Kate Starling, and Mary Whtye. The artists painted different locations in and around the Charleston area for one week.

Coleman Fine Art brings together these particular artists because they embody a diverse representation of plein air painters across the United States in both style and medium.

Originally from the former Soviet Union, Daud Akhriev travels the world in search of plein air subjects, but makes his home in Chattanooga, TN. He is an oil painter whose landscapes are forceful and varied. Last year, he won an award of excellence from the Oil Painters of America and has participated in shows in New York, London, Zurich, and Oslo.

Marc Hanson, who is visiting from Minnesota, is a plein air artist who works in oil as well as in pastels. His ever evolving style captures the attention of collectors around the country. He is a signature member of the Oil Painters of American and a member of The National Academy of Professional Plein Air Painters.

Kate Starling lives in the canyons of southern Utah, where she captures hollowed landscapes in serene oils. Her passion for the outdoors brings unique perspective to her incredible talent. Starling has won several competitions in Arizona and California.

Mary Whyte is nationally recognized for her figurative paintings of the women of Johns Island, SC. In recent years, Whyte has devoted more time to plein air paintings and landscapes. Whyte's paintings have been exhibited in the nation's most prestigious shows, and her work hangs in numerous private and museum collections.
