Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC, Features Works by Ben Owen, III, and Taylor Haynes

A Different Turn: Creation of Works in Clay and Wood will be featured in the Main Gallery at the Moring Arts Center in Asheboro, NC, from May 3 - 28, 2004. The exhibit includes works by Ben Owen, III, and Taylor Haynes.

Ben Owen

Owen, III, is a nationally recognized potter from the Seagrove area. He specializes in woodfired stoneware, salt glazes, and earthenware. He was recently feted as a North Carolina Living Treasure. Although he has been using a wood lathe since he was fourteen, this show marks the first public exhibition of his wood turning work.

Taylor Haynes

Taylor Haynes has acquired a regional reputation for giving wood discards a new chance. He seeks the unique character, grain and color of each piece he works.

Together Owen and Haynes have collaborated on carved pots and wooden applications to clay work. The show will feature individual as well as collaborative pieces. The two artists are also planning several unusual methods of display.
