Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Sahar Fakhoury

Remnants, an exhibit of new paintings and sculptures by Sahar Fakhoury will be on view from May 1 - 31, 2005, at Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC.

Not having an opportunity to attend art school, Fakhoury graduated from the Kuwaiti Institute for Computer Studies in Kwait City. Later her love for art pushed her to take lessons for three years from professional artists. After the Gulf War in 1990, Fakhoury moved to Asheville with her husband and three daughters. In Asheville she continued her education in art by taking workshops and attending life-drawing classes.

Fakhoury works with mixed media, collage, oil paints, clay and other materials. Her recent works are concerned with the issues and frustrations of war and violence, their effects on people and the feeling of helplessness.
