Kensington Stobart Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Paul Hamilton

Kensington Stobart Gallery in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibit, Paintings from Town and Country, featuring works by Ohio artist Paul Hamilton. The exhibit will be on view from May 2 through June 13, 2008.

Hamilton is one of the finest American painters working today. His talent and dedication to his work have led to an upward trajectory of increased public awareness and appreciation of his art. He paints on site, working in thick but evenly applied oil on canvas, adding only finishing touches in his studio. He strives for paintings that look as though they are "breathed onto the canvas", - a feat that has won him a succession of highly successful exhibitions throughout the United States, including three one-person shows at New York's prestigious David Finley Galleries.

"I try to make them speak for themselves as much as they can," says Hamilton of his paintings, "since it's impossible for me to talk with everyone who ends up living with them." The artist's deeply personal approach to painting is both traditional and modern - his textures and brush techniques are steeped in the late nineteenth century, while his compositions and sometimes surprising perspectives reveal a distinctly contemporary sensibility.

Please join us in welcoming Paul Hamilton to our Charleston gallery and the premiere of twenty-five new master paintings by the artist.
