The Society of Bluffton Artists in Bluffton, SC, Offers Works by Lynda K. Potter

The Society of Bluffton Artists in Bluffton, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Heart and Soul in Bluffton, featuring works by Lynda K. Potter, on view through May 30, 2009.

Potter's medium is water-based watercolor and acrylic which she switches between with equal ease to create her enchanting Bluffton paintings. Visitors to this exhibit will see a range of local buildings and water scenes, some familiar and some will send the viewer on a search of old town. Potter, a long-time Bluffton resident, says she would, "rather paint a thousand paintings than to think of words to describe my lifelong passion for art. The art I do comes from my inner core and does not talk, but evolves."

Creativity has always been the key ingredient in her artistic pursuit. Potter approaches each new painting in a different manner and thought process. For her, the freedom of a blank creamy canvas provides (the) inspiration to let the colors flow and the soft lines that form are then blended with one another. The subject may evolve or it may not need to be one. Sometimes her subject evolves, sometimes remains more abstract. As a working professional artist for more than three decades, this seems to work well for her. Potter loves to relay information gained from the world around her to those who are looking for a meaningful experience when viewing her art.

Potter's work is also available at Gallery 209 and Signature Gallery in Savannah, GA. Her work is featured in a number books including, How to Succeed as an Artist in Your Hometown, A Visitor's Guide to Savannah, Essence of Beaufort County and the Lowcountry, "Great Cooks Rise" from the Church of the Cross, Bluffton,  a series of three books, Remembering the Way it was at Hilton Head, Bluffton, Daufuskie, Sheldon and the Sea Islands.

Potter teaches workshops in various media and art forms locally at SoBA and the Art Academy, The Cypress and Creation Station on Hilton Head Island. She has also taught at Albright College and Reading Community College in Reading, PA; Wyoming Institute of Fine; Daufuskie at Haig Point; Creative Retirement Center ,Beaufort; Savannah Art Association; and the Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art, Augusta, GA.
