Carolina Gallery in Spartanburg, SC, Features Works by Trey Finney and Christine Lawrence

Carolina Gallery on Morgan Square in downtown Spartanburg, SC, will present an exhibit by husband and wife painters, Trey Finney and Christine Lawrence, on view from May 14 through June 30, 2009.

Trey Finney

Finney, a South Carolina native, is a full time landscape painter. With an impressionistic style and an emphasis on color, drawing, and an underlying abstract design sense, Finney considers painting to be "the application of the artist's knowledge - while under the influence of the subject."

Christine Lawrence

Originally from Pennsylvania, Lawrence is an oil painter who includes landscape, still life and figures in her repertoire.

Both artists graduated from the Ringling School of Art and Design and worked for Walt Disney Feature Animation for several years. Finney contributed to nine animated features and several animated shorts, including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Mulan. Lawrence's many feature credits include Aladdin, Pocahontas, and Lilo & Stitch.

Since leaving the animation industry, the couple has traveled extensively in the southeast and rocky mountain states, and they recently made their first visit to Italy. Each destination is documented with plein air paintings, sketches, and photographs, providing reference for future work in their studio.

Finney and Lawrence have had their work included in exhibitions around the country and are represented in several public and private collections.
