Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, Features Works by April Harrison

The Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville in Greenville, SC, will present an exhibit of works by guest artist April Harrison, on view from May 1 - 31, 2009.

Harrison is a SC native; a "daughter of Greenville." She is a self-taught artist. She says she is simply "a vessel being utilized to instinctively create narrative, sentiment and observation."

Harrison's work conveys strong messages in her work. Her patchwork and collage add to the depth of her imagination and the execution of the piece. The color palette is mostly soft hues with hard lines carving certain planes for the viewer to see. The subject matter shows the affection she feels towards family and people in the universe that surrounds her life. Her work explodes with love.

Incorporating found objects, specialty papers, and interesting treasures, Harrison's work delights the eye with its tapestry-like texture and overlay of colors. Her brilliant visions have been showcased in prominent galleries in several states as well as being published in numerous publications. Harrison's unique Folk Art is displayed in museums and universities as well as many other public domains. Her work is the delight of many private collectors and a privilege to all who have the opportunity to view her outstanding diverse images!

The Artists Guild Gallery of Greenville is a co-operative gallery located in the heart of downtown Greenville. Over twenty local artists are represented in the gallery along with various mediums including acrylic, mixed media, oil and watercolor paintings, jewelry, glass, woodwork and sculpture. One or more of the artists is in the gallery at all times, demonstrating throughout the day and always ready to discuss their art with visitors.
