Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Robin Joseph

Charleston Artist Guild in Charleston, SC, will present the exhibit, Naipenda Africa - I love Africa, featuring works by Robin Joseph in the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery, on view from May 1 - 31, 2010.

Joseph's show will feature her oil painting and photography work. She states that her photography and oil painting compliment each other, "the Challenge is to know which medium to use that will better express the beauty of the image."

Trained as a licensed professional counselor, her passion for photography developed through her sense of observation. "Whether streaked in light or dappled in shadow each subject's personality shone through in my photographs." She later moved to Charleston and her hobby as a photographer grew into a profession. As her interests in the arts transformed, she began to throw pots for over ten years with a groups called Clayworks, now known as Clay Ten on Meeting Street.

Eventually Joseph was led to her now oil painting teachers, Martin Aarons and Joyce Hall. She has studied with them for over seven years. All of her art has been developed through workshops and classes. "I prefer to paint with oils because of its rich and substantive colors". In all her work, she is motivated by light, color and form. The lens in her artist's eye is always on, focusing on subjects and panning landscapes.

Joseph traveled to Tanzania, Africa in January 2010, which is the inspiration for her show.
