Myrtle Beach, SC, Art Museum Offers Two New Exhibits

The Franklin G. Burroughs - Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in Myrtle Beach, SC, presents abstract painters Lisa Ingram of New York City and Sukey Bryan of Stanford, CA, in an exhibition entitled East Meets West from June 13 - July 16.

Lisa Ingram's abstract paintings are filled with natural energy. They are compelling explorations of matter in which man and earth are engaged in an ongoing process of renewal. Her paintings are lush, organic, and full of life. Ingram's work presents void against solidity and motion against tranquility offering insight to the physical properties of the earth and mankind's struggles against the power of the universe.

Sukey Bryan's paintings are energetic and compelling. Her work is an exploration of the likenesses between cycles and elements of nature and the human experience. Bryan's vibrant and gripping images present the compelling effects of the earth's exterior caused by the churning power beneath its surface. Her paintings present these tectonic cycles through the tumultuous patterns of tidal waves, red-hot volcanic eruptions and flaming lava flows.
