Vincent Sansone is Featured Artist for the Month of June At Blue Spiral 1 in Asheville, NC

Vincent Sansone's Showcase Gallery exhibition opens at Blue Spiral 1 in Asheville, NC on Friday, June 1 and continues through the month.

Sansone's whimsical ceramic sculptures range in subject matter from bike racing fishermen to anthropomorphic bunnies and cats. Each individual sculpture is a participant in a humor-based narrative of Sansone's own invention. "There is a method to this madness," notes Sansone. "It began (years) ago when I decided to make a cat (because) I rarely did cats and needed a change and a challenge. Then with a stroke of silliness, I put some heads sticking out the top and a set of arms on the front rider since he seemed to be in charge."

This impromptu process of working has lead to circus-like creations that delight even the faintest sense of humor. Sansone's work reinforces the importance of comedy in our daily lives through a subtle reminder that even in the world of aesthetic endeavors, we can all laugh at one another and ourselves. This exhibition in part celebrates athletics through a zany reinterpretation of the machines we use in our leisure time. In conjunction with the Mountain Sports Festival, this exhibition is sure to interest every mountain sports aficionado from the die-hard athlete to the leisure oriented outdoors enthusiast.

Sansone received his BFA in painting and MFA in ceramics from Southern Illinois University. He also studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been exhibited at the Fine Arts Museum of the South in Alabama, the Orlando Museum of Art (FL), the Deland Museum of Art (FL), the Brevard Museum of Art (FL) and the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson.
