Charles II Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Susan Kampmann

Charles II Art Gallery in Charleston, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Color Play, featuring works by Susanne Kampmann, winner of the 2002 Piccolo Spoleto image. The exhibit will be on view through June 13, 2004.

German born Kampmann is a fine artist with international recognition. After studying fine art in Germany, Italy and France she received her diploma with distinction from the University for Applied Arts Muenchberg. For over 5 years she owned a solo studio/gallery in Germany heavily focusing on paintings for the modern lifestyle. Her paintings are included in many private and corporate collections throughout Europe and America.

Kampmann lived on the Isle of Palms outside of Charleston from 2000-2003 while her husband was on assignment. Her work in the US has gained a large loyal following, and she continues to be represented in Charleston by Charles II Art Gallery.

Kampmann offer the following about her exhibit. "My new works underlie the idea that paintings, like all hand made things, have a special appeal. They cannot only brighten up a room or change the atmosphere of a living space, but they can also influence your entire lifestyle."

"Paintings are an emotional answer and window to your way of life. Color can encourage creativity and can remind us all of good feelings, good times, and faraway friends and places."

"It's time to share the vision of a bright and happy future of goodwill, hope, and generosity... globally."

"These eighteen newest paintings are colorful and elegant. Acrylic colors mixed with liquid indanthrene colors (textile colors) create a translucent atmosphere. The shiny surface and the soft shades of color stand in contrast to different layers of paint. Each work should solicit different reactions from different viewers, and ideally, speak to everyone individually."
