Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, Features Works by Mike Williams

The works of Mike Williams will be featured in an upcoming show at The Cheryl Newby Gallery in Pawleys Island, SC, from June 12 through July 9, 2004. Mike Williams - New Works 2004, will showcase 18 paintings by one of South Carolina's most successful young artists.

Known for his bold, semi-representational landscapes of barrier islands and saltwater marshes, Williams also creates works referred to as simply "fish paintings", that contain both organic and geometric shapes that have come to be recognized by a growing number of collectors of contemporary art. Williams works in oil and acrylic, and the paintings in the upcoming show will range in size from one foot square, to six feet by four feet.

Williams has been painting and sculpting since 1988, two years before he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a BFA in Studio Art. He is also known for his metal sculpture, and a number of his works have been installed around the Carolinas in public and private collections.
