Weihs Woods Gallery Opens in Rustic Yet Contemporary Cashiers, NC

The Weihs Woods Fine Art and Antiques Gallery has opened their beautiful space on highway 107 in Cashiers, NC. The gallery, owned by painter Karen Weihs and art consultant Cathy Woods presents the monumental and wildlife bronzes by the Tobey family of Port Aransas, TX.

Joshua Tobey is making headlines across the nation with his phenomenal wildlife bronzes rich with patina. Joshua, the son of Gene and Rebecca Tobey whose bronzes, jewelry design and paintings have earned outstanding international acclaim is in his late twenties and will be the featured artist along with plein air painter Andrew Peters, who hails from Cave Creek, AZ.

Weihs and Woods feel their gallery concept of art and antiques in this tiny mountain hamlet is a continuation of their supportive creative ideas. Woods settled in Cashiers from Santa Fe where she ran contemporary southwest art galleries for 12 years. The two have teamed up with a fine art and fine home setting concept to display contemporary art from a fine collectible group of professional artists.

New Mexico oil painters Robert Striffolino and Ann Templeton will round out their selection of invited artists this season. Local acrylic painters, Carroll Rivers and Laura John continue to have wonderful new work as well as Tuckaseegee watercolorist Susan Lingg.

Karen Weihs' new works combining her love of the abstract with the mountain scenery is making her a known regional painter.

The Weihs Woods Outdoor Sculpture Garden and large screened in porch add a contemporary rustic approach to displaying sculpture and paintings in with a rich selection of fine antiques. Utonga stone sculpture from Zimbabwe is also on display in the garden room.
