Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, Features Works by Marc R. Hanson and Glenna Hartmann

Coleman Fine Art in Charleston, SC, has taken in two new artists, Marc R. Hanson and Glenna Hartmann, to their gallery. Hanson and Hartmann demonstrate a strong ability to paint in plein air and have been recognized for their skills on a national level. Both artists have an exclusive relationship on the east coast with Coleman Fine Art. Works by the two will be featured through June 30, 2005.

 Marc R. Hanson

Marc R. Hanson, an oil painter and pastellist, is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and Professional member of the National Academy of Professional Plein Air painters. He grew up in Northern California and has been involved in the arts since he was a young child. Hanson began college as a biology major but soon realized that the amount of illustrations in his papers versus 'scholarly' writing suggested that he might want to pursue an art education. He quickly applied to the Art Center of College and Design in Pasadena, CA, where he was awarded a degree in illustration.

Today, Hanson resides in Rochester, MN, and is most interested in manipulating the core principals, color, value, edges and shapes, into effective visual statements. Recently he was featured in Plein Air Magazine, a publication dedicated to the work of artists who paint amongst the elements. Paintings in the exhibit are images of landscapes of the artist's hometown and can be described as painterly, subdued, and atmospheric.

Glenna Hartmann

Glenna Hartmann, a pastellist from Santa Barbara, CA, formally studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She is a founding member of the Oak Group, an organization nationally recognized for their preservation efforts. Hartmann enjoys painting gentle landscapes - South Carolina Lowcountry and images of the California countryside.

Hartmann is a signature member of the California Art Club, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and the Pastel Society of America. Works in the exhibit are architectural scenes of Historic Charleston and tranquil marsh landscapes of Charleston's surrounding barrier islands.
