Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Lenore Barnett

The Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, is presenting the exhibit, Oils and Watercolors of Monhegan Island, featuring works by Lenore Barnett at Opportunity House, through June 30, 2007.

Barnett, who does representational work, says of herself, "I paint in plein air whenever possible, but also enjoy studio painting. Landscapes are my primary interest, in which I attempt to capture color, mood and light."

Primarily self-taught, Barnett has taken several workshops and studies art theory books and videos constantly. Some of the workshops have been with Skip Lawrence, Charles Sovek and Ned Mueller.

Barnett has won numerous awards, and her work is in collections through the country. Her favorite awards have come from Artist's Magazine and Salmagundi club.

Barnett's work is represented by Wickwire in Hendersonville, Carolina Gallery in Spartanburg, SC, Gabriel's Horn in Sevierville, TN, and Hatfield II in Charleston, SC.

The purpose of the Art League of Henderson County is the promotion, development, and enjoyment of the visual arts. The Art League was organized on May 23, 1962 and incorporated as a tax-exempt, not-for-profit corporation on May 15, 1979. Today, the Art League has over 200 members and continues to grow.
