Carol Pittman Featured at Nina Liu and Friends in Charleston, SC

Carol Pittman's tile mosaics will be featured at Nina Liu and Friends in Charleston, SC, through Aug., 2000.

Pittman describes her work, "My years spent in Naples, Italy are reflected in my art. While there, I was surrounded by colorful tiles, pottery shards, Roman and Renaissance Frescoes, and other evidence of ancient cultures. It was a profound experiences for me. I was immediately "seduced" by the country - the land, the art, the history, the myths, the language, the local color and light of Naples, and in particular, the Italian People. The paintings allow me to remain in southern Europe, and to make connections between my life and life of the ancient Romans and Greeks."

Pittman's works have been exhibited widely, including Frammenti Domestici, a solo exhibit at the Asheville Art Museum, Asheville, NC, Cream Of Columbia, at The Upstairs Gallery in Tryon, NC, the Columbia Museum, in Columbia, SC, and Dorothy McCrae Gallery in Atlanta, GA; and is in numerous collections, including the Beach Company in Charleston, SC.

Pittman received her MA in art studio and a MAT in art education from the University of SC. She also studied at the University of Maryland, Naples, Italy and at the Academia Delle Belle Arti, also in Naples.

Pittman is presently an instructor with the department of art in Columbia, SC.
