Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, Features Exhibit of Works by Charles Basham

Jerald Melberg Gallery in Charlotte, NC, is proud to present its fourteenth exhibition for Ohio artist Charles Basham on view through July 21. Throughout his career, Basham has enjoyed much acclaim for his visually stimulating and emotionally charged landscapes.

Deriving both inspiration and subject matter from intense and lengthy explorations of his family's farm in Ohio, Basham has become acutely attuned to subtle changes in both weather and atmosphere. He wanders familiar woods and fields without preconceptions. From these journeys, Basham selects essential elements of the landscape and utilizes the energy and impact of light to capture dramatic and compelling moments of both morning and evening. Basham often takes natural hues and pushes their saturation and temperature to new heights, yet he always preserves a clearly identifiable impression of reality.

Basham received his BFA and MFA from Kent State University. In the past twenty years, he has been honored with over thirty solo exhibitions and has been included in countless group exhibitions across the US. Basham's work can be found in numerous public and corporate collections including Coca Cola of Atlanta, Chase Manhattan Bank, Bank of America, the Butler Institute of American Art and the Mint Museum of Art.
