Tryon Fine Arts Center Features Works by Barbara Elders

Tryon Painters and Sculptors will host an exhibit by Hendersonville, NC, artist Barbara Elders at the Tryon Fine Arts Center, Gallery One in Tryon, NC, through July 23, 2002.

Elders has work in many private collections including former Governor Rockefeller. She is the recipient of many awards, and a member of the National Art Honorary. Her growth continues through attending and conducting art workshops. Her most viewed work in Hendersonville is the mural in the Park Deli on Main Street.

Elders received her Bachelors degree in Art Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduation she taught art in the public schools in Stuben, OH. She later continued her education in graduate study at Oswego State Teachers College in NJ. This included seminars in eight European Countries. Syracuse University sent her to Florence, Italy, to study the restoration of oil painting in 1970, and to London, England in 1972. Her concentration was specialized in "Italian Renaissance" and American Art 1180-1860 Restorations. Today's concentration is on experimental water media for fun.
