Duality Opens at the Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC

The Wilkes Art Gallery in North Wilkesboro, NC, will feature Duality, 26 photographs by New York City artist, Anna Lee Campbell during July. The exhibit runs July 8-31.

Duality features photographs from four series of Campbell's work including cityscapes taken the evening of September 11, 2001. These images were taken from rooftops near the World Trade Center. They are very emotional, yet serene and beautiful.

Also included in the exhibit are images from the artist's Uzbekistan series and images taken while traveling in Haiti. Portraits of Emelia highlights Campbell's fine art collection. These images feature Emelia, an editorial model from New York City. The series features vibrant, surrealistic images of the model.

The many diverse images on exhibit are united by a common theme. "All of the images in this exhibit are representative of the relationship between light and darkness and the duality of opposing forces in our lives," Campbell explains in her artist's statement. In her statement, Campbell also says she wants her art to capture the complexity of the human experience and show the duality of our existence.

Campbell is originally from Mt. Pleasant, NC and was educated in NC before moving to New York City in June 2000. Currently she resides in Brooklyn, NY and is working as a photographer's assistant.

This exhibit is sponsored by Gardner Glass Products.
