The Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Jean Horton Battey

The Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Artist-of-the-Month for July, 2003, is artist/papermaker Jean Horton Battey.

Battey's unique paper pulp paintings and handmade papers are in private collections across the country. Her work has been published in several books. She will be introducing new drawings and pulp paintings with mixed media on handmade paper at this exhibit.

"I receive great pleasure manipulating my materials and using bold colors and humor in my work to add joy to our everyday human existence. I like to use personal icons to create mythological scenes and stories as I explore the corners of my imagination."
