City Gallery at the Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, SC, Presents Works by Max Miller

The City Gallery at the Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, SC, will present an exhibit of oil on board by local artist Max Miller, from July 16 through Aug. 15, 2003, entitled Truce.

Miller was born in 1980 in Greensboro, NC. Like many members of his family before him he decided to become an artist at an early age. While having always loved to draw, he did not start painting until his junior year at the College of Charleston. Miller graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and Art History in Dec., 2002. Currently he resides in Charleston and spends most of his time producing artwork with the intention of attending graduate school next year.

Miller comments on his work: "This new body of work was greatly influenced by dreams I had over the past year. In each piece I attempted to best capture the full nature of the strange narratives presented to me while asleep. Viewers familiar with my earlier paintings will see a marked shift in many areas, such as presentation, some subject matter attributes, and color saturation/application. Yet, the core feeling remains the same in this work due to the similar ideas represented here, i.e.: interests in narrative and the human body."
