Tyndall Galleries in Chapel Hill, NC, Features Works by Scott Eagle

Tyndall Galleries in Chapel Hill, NC, will present, New Works by Scott Eagle, which will be on view from July 11 through Aug. 19, 2006.

Eagle received his BFA and MFA from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, where he is now a Professor of Art. His works can be found in the collections of the Embassy of Qatar, Washington, DC; the Greenville Museum of Art, Greenville, NC; the Spartanburg County Museum of Art, Spartanburg, SC and Davidson College, Davidson, NC, among others. He has exhibited extensively throughout the southeastern United States.

Eagle offering the following about his work. "Art is the visible expression of the character of a culture. By this I mean that if I look back at the artwork that was produced during a certain time in a certain place and take a cultural snapshot, a personality would emerge. Artists express the dreams, nightmares, feelings, ideas and styles of their times. I am interested in my connection to the larger world and history. I believe that philosophy, science, religion, mythology and the arts are supposed to unite the eternal and the temporal. My own artwork depicts my life, my reaction to the world, my thoughts and emotions about this strange trip. It consists of the exploration and expression of personal spirituality and psychology through symbolic imagery derived from dreams, mythology, artistic masterworks, and universal archetypes. I believe that great art is that which communicates the intangible aspect of being."
