North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, Features Exhibit by Triangle Photography Group & Works by Aleta Braun

North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, is presenting exhibitions featuring works by The Triangle Black and White Photography Group and Aleta BraunMaterial Changes, from July 5 - 28, 2006, at the Gallery of Art & Design.

The Triangle Black and White Photography Group is a collection of photographers, some professional, some who teach photography, and some devoted hobbyists, who share a passion for conventional black and white photography and traditional printing methods utilizing wet darkroom technology. The group's work reflects a desire to isolate subject matter from the visual clutter around us. This allows the viewer to concentrate on the shapes and relationships among shapes that the photographer found important or attractive or interesting. The tones of black and white print interact with the shapes to enhance this isolation. A well-crafted black and white print is beautiful in its own right, as is evident from the prints the Group exhibits.

The Gallery of Art & Design will also present the exhibit, Aleta BraunMaterial Changes.

In Braun's work with paper she uses layering, transparency, texture, paint, thread and objects collected from nature to give voice to her questions. The outcome of her investigation results in captivating journals, works using old linoleum and wall pieces made with paper that has been gently transformed into highly textured and embellished works of art.

The Gallery of Art & Design is one of six visual and performing arts programs that together comprise ARTS NC STATE. Each year, ARTS NC STATE provides hundreds of outstanding arts opportunities for both the campus and the greater community. For more information, go to www.ncsu.edu/arts.
