Spartanburg Museum of Art in Spartanburg, SC, Offers Annual Exhibit by Members of Artists' Guild of Spartanburg

One of the last shows presented by the Spartanburg Museum of Art at its current location at the Spartanburg Arts Center in Spartanburg, SC, will be the Spartanburg Artists' Guild's 34th Annual Juried Exhibition, on view from July 6 - 30, 2007.

"The Artists' Guild is excited that the Annual Juried Show will be the final exhibit at SAM in the Spartanburg Arts Center before we all move into the new Chapman Cultural Center," says Ed Emory, president of the Artists' Guild. "We look upon this show as a great way to say good-bye to the facility and to usher in a new era in Spartanburg arts."

First place, $1,000, second place, $750, and third place, $500, awards will be presented in addition to merit awards offered by private and corporate sponsors during an awards ceremony on July 13, from 6 - 8pm. The awards will be announced at 7pm.

The juror for the show is Mary Robinson, a visiting assistant professor at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, where she teaches all levels of printmaking. After receiving the BFA in painting from the University of Colorado, she worked as an assistant to master printmaker Andy Rubin in Wisconsin. She later earned her MFA in printmaking at Indiana University-Bloomington, and began her teaching career at Indiana-South Bend. Robinson's own work in printmaking and drawing involves nature, particularly vines and trees. She has received several awards and grants, and her work has been shown throughout the US as well as in England and Australia.

The Artists' Guild of Spartanburg is a non-profit organization for visual artists in Spartanburg and the surrounding communities. This program is sponsored in part by The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg and its donors, the County and City of Spartanburg, and our generous supporters.
