Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, Features Works by Reda Kay and Jeanne Parker

The Art League of Henderson County in Hendersonville, NC, will present an exhibit of works by Reda Kay and Jeanne Parker, on view through July 31, 2008, in the Grace Etheredge Room at Opportunity House. Both artists paint in an abstract to non-objective style, and their respective styles will assure an interesting and exciting show.

Reda Kay, a native of Miami, FL, makes her home in Asheville, NC. She is an accomplished photographer, whose desire to expand her expression led her to the study of water media art. She earned a BA in Sociology from Maryville College in Tennessee and is a certified Travel Consultant. Her work, inspired by her continuing worldwide travels, reflect the mystery of the ancient world, and the title of her show is India and Beyond.

Since 1995, Kay has exhibited in various juried shows, won awards, and has had solo exhibitions. Her work can be seen at the Asheville Gallery of Art and the Miya Gallery in Weaverville, NC.

Jeanne H. Parker received her BA degree from Oberlin College in Ohio. In addition she studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and the R.I.T. in Rochester, NY. She has also taken workshops with many nationally known artists. After painting realistically for years, she evolved into a more abstract style. Parker looks for the spark that makes a work stand out on its own.

Parker's extensive background includes a first place award from the Watercolor Society of North Carolina, several awards from Focus on Art, Brevard, and other top awards from art organizations regionally. She has been active in The Tryon Painters and Sculptors since 1983 and served as its president for five years. Parker is presently curator for exhibits in the Tryon Fine Arts Center.
