North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, NC, Offers Annual Quilt Show

Western North Carolina's rich cultural heritage comes to life at the North Carolina Arboretum in Asheville, NC, when they present the Asheville Quilt Guild's Annual Show, on view from Aug., 7 - 9, 2009.

The popular show is a judged event featuring more than 250 quilts of exceptional craftsmanship from across the US and worldwide. The three-day show offers live demonstrations, a merchant's mall and more!

This year's theme is, Carolina Blues, and new features will include a merchant's mall at both the Education Center and Baker Exhibit Center, as well as a new "wearable art" category, according to the show's committee chairperson, Julie Simpson.

The show runs Friday and Saturday from 9am-5pm, and 10am-5pm on Sunday. Entrance to the Quilt Show requires a $5 parking fee to The North Carolina Arboretum and $4 admission fee for the Quilt Show.

Visitors to the Quilt Show will also be able to explore the exhibit, H. Douglas Pratt and John C. Sill's BIRDS: The Science of Illustration, on view through Nov. 1, 2009.

The mission of The North Carolina Arboretum is to cultivate connections between people and plants.
