July Issue 2009

YMI Cultural Center in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Robert Winkler

The YMI Cultural Center in Asheville, NC, will present the exhibit, Working Process: Sculpture by Robert Winkler, on view in Galleries I & II from July 2 through Sept. 20, 2009.

The exhibition, which focuses on models and works in progress, as well as finished works, traces the evolution of Winkler's signature style from 1990 to 2009. It offers a rare look at his process for developing ideas and working through design and structural problems before executing his full size works.

Winkler, an internationally exhibited professional sculptor, is a resident of North Asheville and the founder of RiverSculpture™. His work is collected by corporations, museums and private individuals. A passionate proponent of public art, he designed Working Process to be an informative as well as aesthetic experience. Field trips from all school levels are encouraged and guided tours can be arranged by appointment.

The YMI Cultural Center is an Asheville landmark in the heart of downtown, convenient to City Hall, Pack Square, Pack Place and art galleries and other cultural centers. The YMI Cultural Center is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
