Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg Features Works by John Byrum

The Artists’ Guild of Spartanburg will present an exhibit of photography by John Byrum, on view in the Guild Gallery at the Chapman Cultural Center in Spartanburg, SC, from July 1 - 30, 2011. A reception will be held on July 1, from 6-9pm.

A photographer for the Spartanburg Herald-Journal for the past twelve years, Byrum makes taking pictures both his profession and his passion. While his keen eye is drawn to all sorts of images, his most treasured shots capture scenes of landscapes and nature.

“I always challenge myself to seize that perfect moment when light, color and land come together to create a lasting portrait,” Byrum says.

“There is no better feeling with the camera than when the forces of nature converge in allowing the creation of an image that evokes an emotional response and provides that brief moment where you capture on film exactly what you’d perceived in your own mind,” adds Byrum.

Byrum strives to share those moments with his viewers, “When that spirit moves me, and I like to think that others may appreciate what I’m seeing.”
