SC Watercolor Society Annual Traveling Show in Beaufort, SC

Beaufort Art Association has been chosen to host the premiere showing of South Carolina Watercolor Society 23rd Annual Awards Traveling Exhibition during the month of August at the Art Among The Books Gallery, at the Beaufort Library, located in Downtown Beaufort, SC.

The Traveling Exhibit comprises the top thirty paintings from the 2000 Annual Exhibition and travels to museums and gallery spaces throughout the state. Paintings are for sale and may be purchased at each traveling exhibit site. The SC State Museum coordinates the traveling art program.

The work of three Lowcountry artists will, be on view. They are Billie De La Penha, of Bluffton, Tom Ratliff of Hilton Head and Del Holt of Port Roya1. In all, 71 works from all over the state were accepted with the top thirty making the traveling show. The juror was Serge Hollerbach. The purpose of the Society is to: Promote the aesthetic and professional interests of its members and to provide the public with artistic opportunities through watercolor painting; elevate the stature of watercolor and educate the public to its significance as an important creative permanent painting medium; further the interests of watercolor painters by its programs and competitive exhibits, and to encourage the study of watercolor painting; promulgate the highest aesthetic standards within the visual arts, and to cooperate with and participate in similar organizations in order to stimulate the practice and appreciation of the arts.
