Charleston County Public Library in Charleston, SC, Shows Works of Charles Staats

The Saul Alexander Gallery, located on the first floor of the Charleston County Public Library in Charleston, SC, will feature an exciting exhibit of paintings by Charles Staats entitled Recent Small Paintings. This unique exhibit runs throughout the month of August.

"I see art as an interplay between the paint and the image," stated Staats. "When painting I am making a fiction with elements of 'reality'. I hope to make convincing a world that never was, but should have been. Paint is the air and the skin of the people in my paintings. It is also the muscle and bone. When I do my job right, there should be no confusion between the world of my paintings and the world in which we live. I carefully study the world we live in so that my fictions will be understandable to others. I have no ambition to paint like a camera."
