Durham Arts Council in Durham, NC, Presents Works by Hanna Jurban

The Durham Arts Council in Durham, NC, is presenting an exhibition entitled, Revelation of a Passage, featuring relief sculptures by Hanna Jubran, which will be on view in the Semans Gallery through Sept. 24, 2001.

The internationally acclaimed artist will be exhibiting his bronze sculptures depicting aerial views of Jerusalem. Through his use of various textures, colors and forms, Jubran produces stylized representations of the city. To the artist, Jerusalem is more than just a landscape, it is its history, people, climate and impact it has made on the world.

Jubran received his MFA in sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is currently Sculpture Professor at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. Jubran's work addresses the concepts of time, movement, balance and space. He regularly participates in International art shows, competitions and symposiums. Some of Jubran's most recent activities include The International Sculpture Symposium in Ma'allot, Israel, The Ecatepec, Mexico International Monumental Sculpture Symposium and The Toyamura International Sculpture Biennial at Toyamura Village, Japan. One competitive commission Jubran just completed can be found on the grounds of Fayetteville University, Fayetteville, NC. He is consistent in his pursuit of creating enjoyable sculptures for private and corporate collections.
