Charles II Art Gallery Opens as Charleston, SC's Latest

The Wolf Gallery has brought a new gallery to Charleston, SC: Charles II, located at 2 Queen Street. The Wolf Gallery is located at 113 Church Street, and features eight award-winning Charleston artists. Charles II will feature exhibitors from around the region, country and world.

The space was previously the gallery of Willard Hirsch, Marty Whaley Adams, and Art Thomas. Not only the gallery of, but the studio for, many of Charleston's art notables. Most recently Marty Whaley Adams and Paige Hathaway Thorn exhibited their works and both can still be found in Charles II. A previous exhibitor of Art Thomas, Bill Buggle, one of Charleston's early modernists, was enthusiastically invited to exhibit his works in the new space.

Collectors will find works of brightly colored landscapes and florals, jazz and bluesy musical genre, city scapes, cool urban night scenes, nude figuratives, abstracts and new Charleston works.

The gallery's grand opening will take place on Sept. 26, 2003.
