Red Clover Gallery in Landrum, SC, Offers Works by Virginia Pendergrass

The Red Clover Gallery in Landrum, SC, is presenting the exhibit, Appalachian Visions, featuring the work of Virginia Pendergrass, on view through Aug. 12, 2008.

With loose abandon, Pendergrass strives for rich color and suggestive forms rather than definitive brushwork and her paintings invoke emotions in each scene she creates. From barns and country homesteads to street scenes and still-lifes, Pendergrass is an expert at capturing the timeless aura of Appalachia.

Capturing a variety of subject matter including still-lifes, portraits and landscapes, Pendergrass loves to paint simply for the experience of painting. She strives to create work that will bring both her and others pleasure.

Originally from East Texas, Pendergrass had the privilege of studying with Scott Christensen early on. She claims he provided her with the basic knowledge she needed to grow as a painter. Primarily a self-taught artist, she has supplemented her art education with several academic courses, workshops and instructional books.

Pendergrass is recognized nationally and her work has been featured in American Art Collector, a publication of juried, original art and fine craft from across the United States, for three years. She now resides in Brevard, NC, where the lush green mountains and valleys are her daily inspiration.
