Theatre Art Galleries in High Point, NC, Offers New Round of Exhibits

The Theatre Art Galleries in High Point, NC, is offering several news exhibitions on view through Oct. 11, 2008.

On exhibit in TAG's Main Gallery, are vibrant works from twenty-nine artists of the Pastel Society of North Carolina, formerly the Pastel Society of Orange County. It was formed in 1996 by pastel artist and teacher, Lorie Callahan, with 12 enthusiastic artists dedicated to creating works in soft pastels with the purpose of promoting standards of excellence and encouraging the use of the medium of soft pastels. Since that time, the Society has grown to over 80 members. The art shown from this group covers a broad range of styles and dimensions in pastels.

Sally Jacobs's most recent body of work, 180 Students 180 Days, is a personal interpretation of teaching middle school students and their classroom environment over the past three years. Jacobs's art demonstrates how the children cope within the public school education, particularly with the No Child Left Behind Act. Her work can be seen in TAG's Gallery B.

The exhibit, Out of Hiding: Selections from the TAG Permanent Collection, is being featured in TAG's Hallway Gallery.

Weaver Academy of Performing and Visual Arts is showcasing the exhibit, Who Are You?, in the Kaleidoscope Youth Gallery and features multi-media self portraits of high school art students instructed by Lisa Woods.

TAG is a non-profit visual art organization located in the High Point Theatre that presents quality exhibitions and educational programs for the community.
