Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, Features Works by Al Junek

The Asheville Gallery of Art in Asheville, NC, will present Scene Around Asheville and WNC, featuring watercolor and pastel paintings by Al Junek, depicting scenes in and around Asheville and Western North Carolina, on view from Aug. 1 - 31, 2013. A reception will be held on Aug. 2, from 5-8pm.

Junek retired in 2000 from a career in engineering, and currently resides in Hendersonville, NC. He began painting in 1989 after formal training at the Baton Rouge Fine Arts Academy. He has continued his studies in workshops by a number of nationally known artists. He works primarily in watercolor, but enjoys pastel and pen/ink as well. Junek is fascinated by light and its resulting values; this effect is captured in many of his works. More recently, he has focused on creating serene landscapes in misty or foggy settings.

Junek is a member of the Art League of Henderson County, Watercolor Society of North Carolina, Southern Watercolor Society, Arts Council of Henderson County, Appalachian Pastel Society and a signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society.
