Lawson Jewelers & Gallery in York, SC Features Show of Teapots

Lawson Jewelers & Gallery in York, SC, will present a ceramic show entitled, Teapots, through Sept. 30. Featured are teapots by ceramic artists Celena Cristos, Dale Duncan, and Sandy Singletary.

Cristos, a Winthrop University graduate, has been making pottery for over 8 years. She and her husband recently moved to York from Cincinnati, OH, where she was an active member of the Cincinnati Clay Alliance and Art Guild. Her goal is to create unique, yet functional pottery to bring beauty to people's homes.

Duncan's work is based on traditional pottery forms, with an emphasis on texture contrasts. A co-founder of the Centerville Craftsmen Pottery Shop in Kearney, MO, Duncan has recently exhibited his clay art at both the Walden and W.D.O. Galleries in Charlotte, and will have an exhibit in Denver, CO, in October of this year.

Singletary is a professional potter and sells her work throughout the Southeast. She produces highly functional utilitarian ware with an emphasis on serving pieces. The teapots that she's created for the show represent a new direction: functional pieces with a primary emphasis on art and design.

Also showing in the gallery will be fiber art by Dollie Kloepfer. Kloepfer has been working with fibers for over 20 years, specializing in original dolls, baskets, and handwoven items. The wall hangings that she has created for this show are a blend of her hand painted fabrics and textile printed fabrics.
