Odyssey Gallery in Asheville, NC, Presents Plates & Platters Exhibit

The Odyssey Gallery in Asheville, NC, is presenting an exhibition featuring plates and platters, on view through Sept. 27, 2002.

Our new exhibit celebrates plates and platters, in all of their many shapes, sizes and forms. Over 30 artists from around the country are participating. Some platters explore the art of pure function. Figurative and narrative platters tell their own story, while others elaborate on color and texture. All of them are contemporary expressions of a prehistoric form: the platter as serving vessel, sculptural object and canvas.

Participating artists include: Linda Arbuckle (Micanopy, FL); Mary Barringer (Shelburne Falls, MA); Mary Kay Botkins (East Dundee, IL); George Bowes (Atlanta, GA); Matthew Brock (Asheville, NC); William Brouillard (Cleveland, OH); Mark Burleson (Asheville, NC); Joan Byrd (Cullowee, NC); Linda Christianson (Lindstrom, MN); Sam Clarkson (Bonny Doon, CA); Thomas Clarkson (Charlottesville, VA); David Crane (Blacksburg, VA); Jennifer Daugherty (Delton, MI); and Becca Floyd (Mars Hill, NC).

Also included are: Paul Frehe (Asheville, NC); David Gamble (Indianapolis, IN); Barbara Gerber (Asheville, NC); Hank Goodman (Arden, NC); Silvie Granatelli (Floyd, VA); Steven Hill (Kansas City, MO); Cat Jarosz (Leicester, NC); Kathy King (Atlanta, GA); Heinz Kossler (Asheville, NC); Ginny Marsh (Rockwall, TX); Warren Mather (Weston, MA); Linda McFarling (Burnsville, NC); Alleghany Meadows (Carbondale, CO); Andy Nasisse (Athens, GA); Jeff Oestreich (Taylors Falls, MN); George Rector (Cullowee, NC); Judith Salomon (Cleveland, OH); Sumio Seo (Asheville, NC); Michael Simon (Colbert, GA); Lisa Stinson (Bakersville, NC); and Melissa Wood (Madison, AL).
