SC Arts Commission's Booking Conference Is One-Stop Shopping For Institutions In Search Of Artists

More than 135 professional artists who are available for work in educational settings will demonstrate their skills at the annual Arts Education Booking Conference, organized by the SC Arts Commission. The conference will take place Oct. 26, 2004 at the Columbia Conference Center, 169 Laurelhurst Avenue in Columbia, SC.

The booking conference is ideal for representatives of institutions such as schools, after-school programs, hospitals, churches and others who want to use artists to enhance their educational programs. The artists' exhibits include all arts disciplines visual and performing arts, crafts, media, literature, storytelling and photography and are focused on serving school arts education programs. Many come complete with lesson plans designed to meet the SC Department of Education's curriculum standards.

The registration fee for this conference is $60. Anyone interested in attending the Arts Education Booking Conference can register by contacting the SC Arts Commission at (803/734-8696 or by going online to (www.SouthCarolinaArts.com).

The SC Arts Commission is an agency of state government which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the SC Arts Foundation. For details on this and other programs and services available from the SCAC, visit (www.SouthCarolinaArts.com).
