Conn Gallery in Landrum, SC, Features Works by Sally Radekevich and Susan Ruby

Conn Gallery in Landrum, SC, will present the exhibit, Two Women - A Journey in Art, featuring works by Sally Radekevich and Susan Ruby, from Sept. 10 through Oct. 21, 2005.

Radekevich began her career in the advertising design field in a publishing firm outside of Cleveland, OH. Her passion for graphic arts went from there to starting her own company "Orange Graphics", specializing in logo design, including client Labatt's Brewing Company from Ontario, Canada. From there Radekevich took her love of fine art to another career move and opened the Cooper Moon Art and Frame Gallery in 1999. She continued to paint, while running the business, and attending classes at various art schools. Her husband's corporate transfer moved them both to Greenville, SC in 2003.

Radekevich's current paintings are acrylic on paper and canvas, and many include collage for textured effects. Her figurative paintings are rich in bold colors, and dramatic in their effect. Her abstracts are eye catching; some incorporate beads, gold foil, and silver.

Susan Ruby graduated from Ohio State University in drawing, painting and graphic art. She was employed as graduate assistant teacher for undergraduate fine art program there, then went on to an MS from University of Wisconsin in city planning. Ruby was employed as city planner in the west coast states - most recently eleven years in Santa Barbara, CA, from 1976 - 2002.

Ruby, in getting back to her love of painting, attended workshops at the Art League of Alexandria, VA, from 2002-2005. Her current work focuses on figurative pieces in watercolor and mixed media. The impressionistic style of the work is strengthened by a focus on negative space in the composition. "The untouched white portions of the page are as important to the work as the lines and the flow of the color wash," say Ruby.

Come and see this vibrant showing of two women and their passion for their own artwork, then human figure and the adventures they have to get the end result.
