Historic Brattonsville in York County, SC, Presents First Piedmont Pottery Festival on Oct. 8, 2005

For the first time ever, the Culture & Heritage Museums in York County, SC, presents the Piedmont Pottery Festival, a show of traditional Southern pottery including antiques and reproductions. This event taking place at Historic Brattonsville in McConnells, SC, on Oct. 8, 2005, from 10am-4pm, features over 15 potters and dealers from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The event is being underwritten by Jim and Judy Udick.

While browsing the pottery collections, visitors will also be able to enjoy pottey throwing demonstrations, special presentation and guest speakers, including Edgefield pottery expert Steve Ferrell, who speaks at 1pm. Charles G. "Terry" Zug III will speak on "North Carolina Pottery: From Craft to Art" at 11:30am. Activities such as brick-making and kick-wheel demonstrations will take place throughout the day. The North Carolina Pottery Collectors Guild will be conducting pottery identification between noon and 2pm. Kilocycle Kowboys, a Charlotte, NC, based bluegrass band that has been together for over 30 years, will bring their brand of lively music to the festival as they hit the stage at noon and 2pm. Ron's Barbecue and hot dogs will be available for purchase.

Participating potters selling include: Michael Ball, Michel Bayne, Keith Brown, Ding Denlinger, Stephen Ferrell, Walter Fleming, Stephen Harrison, Wayne Hewell, Sid Luck, Vicki Miller, Ottis Norris, Steve Turpin, Westmoore Pottery and Phil Wingard.

Admission for the event is regular park admission.
