September Issue 2005

Spencer Art Galleries in Charleston, SC, Features Group Exhibition and Works by Regina Bowling

The Spencer Art Galleries in Charleston, SC, will present two special art exhibits in September in Galleries I, II, and III at 55 and 57 Broad Street in Charleston, SC.

The Sixth Annual Artist Journeys Exhibit, on view from Sept. 2 - 13, 2005, will showcase works based on the summer travels of gallery artists. Many of the gallery's artists travel during the summer and their work is influenced by the places they visited and the people they met. Come and see lots of new and exciting works.

From Sept. 16 - 30, 2005, Gallery I will present the exhibit, Trying To See, featuring paintings by Regina Bowling. Bowling is an accomplished painter relatively new to the
Charleston area. Her exhibit focuses on what every artists tries to do; that is, to see in the unique way that artists see.

"When you look at a scene and think you'd like to paint that image, you try to see every tiny color, every shade change, every pattern, every play of light," says Bowling. "Mostly you try to see the innate beauty. Trying to see refers to my desire to have clear, true eyes and heart before I even pick up a paint brush."
