Anderson Arts Center in Anderson, SC, Features Works by Dorothy Masom, Dottie Moore, and Chris Troy

The Anderson Arts Center in Anderson, SC, is presenting the exhibition, Out on a Limb: Imagery of Trees, featuring works by Dorothy Masom, Dottie Moore, and Chris Troy. The exhibit will be on view in the Anderson Arts Center Warehouse gallery through Oct. 6, 2006.

Dorothy Masom has taught art for 18 years at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania and is considered a pioneer in the revival of encaustic painting. The encaustic painting technique involves mixing pigment with hot wax to be applied in the painting and then fixed for durability with heat. Her works are widely known for their luminosity of color, harmony, poetic composition, and strength.

Since 1980, Dottie Moore has created art quilts to explore the mysteries of earth and sky. Images from nature provide the symbolic language she uses to express her feelings. Her work has sold at fine art galleries and fine art/craft shows including American Craft Council shows and the Smithsonian Craft Show.

Choosing the "Path Less Taken," Chris Troy left the world of business management and rushed headlong into the world of clay. She creates objects from clay with the textures, shapes and forms of the natural landscapes surrounding her home-based studio.
