Second Annual Fall N2 Art Show will Take Place in Columbia, SC, on Sept. 21-23, 2007

A group of like-minded poets, painters, photographers, performing artists, educators and business people have joined together under the umbrella of the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties forming The Artist's Roundtable (A.R.T.) with the mission to shape Columbia's arts scene.

As a result, approximately 15 local artists are banding together to plan the second annual Fall N2 Art Show held Sept. 21-23, 2007 on Richland Street in downtown Columbia, SC. This artists' showcase will feature original fine art and fine crafts from artists in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida. All art is available for sale.

According to show chairperson Peggy Cacalano, "This year's Fall N2 Art Show is again being held simultaneously with Columbia's Greek Festival. We have been fortunate to partner with them and the City of Columbia to capitalize on the 70,000 people they have coming to the festival." Cacalano also stated that, "We are also enhancing our advertising efforts this year and hope to help grow this into an even larger event this year."

"Several artists approached the Cultural Council last year because they felt it was time to see a new paradigm shift in how the arts and artists are viewed in Columbia," says Chuck LaMark, Director of Development for the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties. "Their newly formed group, The Artist's Roundtable, is a grass roots type organization developed for artists by artists to promote all types of performing and visual arts in the Columbia area."

"They also help fellow artists with business issues such as copyrights, insurance options and partnership opportunities to promote their works," he added.

LaMark also noted, "The main difference between this group and other groups is that it is a type of clearinghouse where all artisans can come and share their ideas with one another in a salon-style environment like they used to do in Paris back in the 1880's. Back then, you would see Picasso debating with Modigliani, Gertrude Stein and F. Scott Fitzgerald talking up their latest writings while a jazz musician played in the background."

Fall N2 Art Show times are: Sept. 21 & 22, from 10am-7pm and Sept., 23, from noon-6pm.
