Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, NC, Offers Three New Exhibitions

The Upstairs Artspace in Tryon, NC, is offering several new exhibitions including:
Where in the World: Looking for Cultural References, A Landscape for All Seasons, and Len Fury: A Gathering of Form, all on view through Oct. 20, 2007.

Where in the World: Looking for Cultural References introduces artists whose exposure to other peoples and countries has impacted their self expression. The artists are Eugene Avergon, Fletcher, NC; Glenda Guion, Easley, SC; John and Margie Labadie, Red Springs, NC; Winnie Owens-Hart, Gainesville, VA; Sarah Simpson, Tryon, NC; and Carole Tinsley, Greenville, SC. There are paintings, fiber art, digitally manipulated imagery, and ceramic and relief sculpture in this fresh and informative presentation.

A Landscape for All Seasons features landscapes painted from close-up to long-distance perspective in styles ranging from strict realism to slightly surreal. Above all, the diverse collection depicts the four seasons in all their colorful splendor. Artists are Scott Cunningham, Spartanburg, SC; Linda Hudgins and Brad Simpson, Tryon, NC; Ruth Ava Lyons and Fred Sprock, Charlotte, NC; Dale McEntire, Saluda, NC; Joyce Silver, New York City; J. Michael Simpson, Rock Hill, SC; and Deborah Squier, Asheville, NC.

Len Fury: A Gathering of Form offers a solo exhibit of elegant mixed media sculpture that emphasizes wood by Len Fury of Fairview, NC.

A "walk & talk" tour of the art given by the artists will be offered on Sept. 9, 2007, at 2pm.
