Carolina Gallery in Spartanburg, SC, Features Works by Alix Refshauge

Carolina Gallery, on Morgan Square in Spartanburg, SC, is pleased to feature new work by Alix Refshauge, on view from Sept. 18 through Oct. 21, 2008.

Exploring the pattern of daily living, Refshauge's paintings address the equipment for daily survival in the cycle of waking, eating, working, exercising, and sleeping. His domestic objects, "painted in bright colors, with thick paint - pay homage to the everyday." She states, "A teapot, a French Press, breakfast, rows and rows of bottle caps, tea bags and books can become either an unnoticed part of the cycle or be recognized as vital tools for daily survival."

In the summer of 1998 Refshauge, a Spartanburg native, spent ten weeks in Cortona, Italy with the University of Georgia, discovering her passion for painting. In 2000 she graduated from Furman University with a BFA, and in 2007 achieved an MPA in arts management from the College of Charleston.
