Cone 10 Studios, in Charleston, SC, Marks Third Anniversary

Sept. 2008, marks the third anniversary of Cone 10 Studios in downtown Charleston, SC.

The working studio and clay gallery is a continuation of Charleston ClayWorks, founded in 2000 by nationally acclaimed clay artist, Susan Filley. ClayWorks was the fruition of Filley's vision of developing a clay community with studio space, educational opportunities, and gallery for Charleston area clay artists. In the summer of 2005, she returned to her family home of Chapel Hill, NC, and established a studio there, handing ClayWorks over to colleagues and current owners, Juliann Bannon, Fiorenzo Berardozzi, Betsey Carter, Caroline Cercone, and Susan Gregory.

Since Sept. 2005, these partners have continued Filley's vision of providing work and exhibition space for lowcountry clay artists. The fifteen Cone 10 members enjoy a fully equipped studio (including a gas reduction kiln), individual and group workplace, and gallery. The group contributes to the cultural life of the lowcountry through a comprehensive curriculum of wheel throwing and clay sculpture classes and member and invitational exhibitions.

In addition to the five partners, Cone 10 Studios members are Bev Ballow, Barb Bergwerf, Chip Burr, Sally Burrell, Anne John, Jason Luck, Arthur McDonald, Dolly Rennolds, Catherine Rogers, and Pana Wilder.
